Corona Pandemic... Sew Scrubs

So here we are in the middle of the corona pandemic.  The world of sewing has turned its head, and there is an army of sewists turning out scrubs and masks for key workers all over the world.
I've developed some very basic patterns, that hopefully will help to make cutting out and sewing up the scrubs easier. My idea is that you draw your own patterns directly onto the fabric, this will limit the risk of cross contamination to you from patterns delivered to your home.
Remember to keep safe, wipe down all packaging if fabric is delivered to your home, wash all fabrics before you use them with a detergent and wash your hands regularly.
Keep safe and well, and keep sewing

Oh!Sew Shop Trip

Braving the thundery rain showers, Saturday 29th June 2019 saw us  travelling by coach to visit Northern Ireland's newest fabric shop.
Oh!Sew Shop owned by Beds Elliott is located at  Raceview Mill, Broughshane.
Fifteen of my clients made the trip to the specialist Dressmaking shop where we pondered, perused and purchased the beautiful fabrics on offer. Rebecca (also one of my clients) gave us a warm welcome, as well as advice on the fabrics and patterns available. You can view the shop and fabric on Instagram @ Oh!Sew Shop but it's really worth a visit in person.
We sampled the very large and yummy scones at The Red Brick Cafe, almost next door to Oh! Sew and then travelled North to Drumadoon House Restaurant for lunch, before heading back home to start sewing...

Can't believe it's been six years since I opened Cribstown Sewing Centre and I've enjoyed every minute. I've met so many people along the way and had so many sewing adventures with each and every one.
I still get a warm fuzzy feeling every time someone completes their first project. The sense of pride they have in being able to say... "I made that"
We've made all sorts from dinosaurs to wedding dresses.
And I'm happy to say a few of my clients have taken that leap of faith and set up their own businesses created from their hobby.
As I'm sure you can tell from my lack of posting I don't have a great love of social media, I'm much more of a face to face person. However, I do know that this is the way the world communicates now so I will have to embrace it and be dragged into the social media whirl with more regular posts. My aim is not to leave it for another five and a half years until the next post so hopefully I'll be in touch soon. Bye for now, Maria

I've started a waiting list for the Stitching Diva's Group - this class is for people who can sew and want to come along to a class for the sewing, the company and the craic. You can start something new or finish off an existing project. This can be anything from embroidery to patchwork - the more variety the better!!
Get in touch if you would like your name added to the waiting list and once the group is full I'll confirm a start date. Stitching Diva's is held on a Monday Evening 6.30pm - 9.30pm.

Just a quick update - things are moving along and it looks like I will be ready to open mid September 13. The Class Timetable is available on the website and courses will be advertised from next week. I'm already getting some enquiries about what courses will be available - it seems word of mouth is spreading the news - which is great.
I was in Paragon Fabrics just the other day and a lovely lady overheard me talking to the Paragon Staff about opening up the Sewing Centre and she came over to ask about it - She was there with a group of her friends who all seemed really keen as well. Looking forward to hearing from you again Ladies and getting started on some sewing projects.
